Depop Fees Explained (2026): What You Actually Keep

Depop quietly became one of the cheapest places to sell secondhand fashion. The 10% selling fee that used to take a chunk of every sale was dropped for US sellers in July 2024 and UK sellers in March 2024. In 2026, the only thing standing between your sale price and your payout is a small payment processing charge. Here's the full picture.

The 30-second version (US sellers):

  • Selling fee: $0 — Depop takes no percentage commission on US sales.
  • Payment processing: 3.3% + $0.45 per transaction (on item price + shipping).
  • Boost is optional — it's a paid promotion, not a mandatory fee.
  • Outside US/UK: a 10% selling fee still applies on top of processing.

1. The selling fee: gone for US and UK sellers

From 2011 until 2024, Depop charged sellers 10% on every sale. That fee was competitive when the app launched but looked expensive compared to Vinted (0% seller fee) once resale platforms started competing hard on cost. Depop responded by eliminating seller fees entirely for its two biggest markets.

The change rolled out to UK sellers in March 2024 and to US sellers in July 2024. As of 2026, sellers in both markets pay no selling commission at all. There is no listing fee, no final value fee, and no monthly subscription. The platform makes its revenue through payment processing and optional Boost promotions.

If you've seen guides quoting a 10% Depop fee — those are out of date. Ignore them.

2. The payment processing fee: what you actually pay

Every Depop sale goes through Depop Payments, Depop's built-in payment processor. The fee is charged on the total order value — item price plus any shipping the buyer pays. There is no way to use a different payment method and avoid this fee.

MarketProcessing fee
United States3.3% + $0.45
United Kingdom2.9% + £0.30
Outside US/UK10% selling fee + local processing

What the processing fee applies to

The percentage is calculated on the total the buyer pays: item price plus shipping. The fixed component ($0.45 or £0.30) is charged once per transaction regardless of order size. There are no additional payout fees — once the processing charge is deducted, the remainder lands in your Depop balance and you can cash out to your bank.

3. Worked examples

Concrete numbers make the fee tangible. These use US rates (3.3% + $0.45):

Example A: $25 item, free shipping

Line itemAmount
Sale price$25.00
Selling fee$0.00
Processing (3.3% × $25 + $0.45)−$1.28
You keep$23.72

Effective rate: 5.1% on this transaction (the fixed $0.45 component hits harder on small sales).

Example B: $60 item, buyer pays $8 shipping

Line itemAmount
Sale price$60.00
Buyer-paid shipping (included in fee base)$8.00
Processing (3.3% × $68 + $0.45)−$2.69
You keep (before your own shipping cost)$57.31

Note that shipping is included in the processing base even when the buyer is the one paying for the label. If you offer free shipping, you absorb the label cost yourself on top of the processing fee — factor that into your floor price.

PlatformSeller feePayout on $60
Depop (US, 2026)3.3% + $0.45 processing only$57.53
Vinted$0 (seller pays nothing)$60.00

Poshmark20% (items $15+)$48.00
Mercari10% + 2.9% + $0.30 processing$51.56

Figures rounded. Verify current rates per platform before relying on them for pricing decisions.

Depop sits near the top on payout — only Vinted (which charges sellers nothing at all) pays out more. Use the free DepopCalc calculator to run your exact item price and see your real net instantly.

4. Optional fees: Boost

Depop Boost is a paid promotion that gives a listing more visibility in search and browse results. You set a boost percentage (above the item price), which is what Depop takes when a boosted listing sells — the buyer sees the item at the normal price, not the boosted rate. Boost is entirely optional and has no effect on what you keep from non-boosted sales.

Think of it as a marketing budget, not a platform tax. Most sellers test it on higher-value items where the extra visibility has the most upside.

5. How to calculate your real net

The formula for a US sale:

Net = Sale price − (3.3% × (Sale price + Shipping)) − $0.45 − Your item cost − Your shipping cost (if you offer free shipping)

That's the math the DepopCalc calculator runs automatically. Plug in your numbers and see your net, margin, and ROI before you decide whether to list — or at what price.

FAQ

Does Depop still charge a 10% selling fee in 2026?

No. Depop eliminated the 10% seller fee for US sellers in July 2024 and for UK sellers in March 2024. In 2026, US and UK sellers pay zero selling commission. You only pay payment processing on each transaction.

What is the Depop payment processing fee in the US?

3.3% of the total transaction (item price + shipping) plus a fixed $0.45 per transaction. This is the only mandatory fee US sellers pay in 2026.

What is the Depop payment processing fee in the UK?

2.9% of the total transaction plus a fixed £0.30 per transaction. UK sellers pay no selling commission, only this processing fee.

Do international Depop sellers (outside US/UK) pay a selling fee?

Yes. Sellers outside the US and UK still pay a 10% selling fee on top of payment processing fees. The 0% selling fee change only applies to US and UK accounts.

Does payment processing apply to shipping too?

Yes. The processing fee is calculated on the total order value including shipping, not just the item price. So if you charge for shipping, that amount is also included in the fee base.

What is Depop Boost and how much does it cost?

Depop Boost is an optional paid promotion that gives your listing more visibility. The fee is separate from standard selling fees and is set at a rate you choose — it is not required to sell on Depop.

The bottom line

Depop in 2026 is genuinely low-cost for US and UK sellers: 0% commission and only payment processing to account for. On a $50 sale you keep around $47.80 — compare that to $40 on Poshmark or $43.50 on eBay. The fee structure rewards sellers who price carefully and don't offer unnecessary free shipping on items where the buyer would happily pay the label cost.
